The University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program was recently accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) for five years. The DPT program, part of Decker College of Nursing and Health Sciences, admitted its first students in 2023 and recently graduated its first cohort.

The Center for Civic Engagement can register your students to vote!
Help your students make their voices heard! The Center for Civic Engagement is available to come to your class and help students register to vote, learn about the absentee/mail or in-person voting process and answer questions about student voting rights and responsibilities. The CCE coordinates a nationally recognized, nonpartisan student voting program that has led to steady increases in student voter turnout.
A standard class presentation takes around 15-20 minutes. Shorter presentation options to better meet the needs of faculty and students are also offered.
The next election in New York will be the primary election on Tuesday, June 23. The deadline to change one's party affiliation for this year's primary is Saturday, Feb. 14. The voter registration deadline is Saturday, June 13. Submit requests for presentations early to help accommodate as many classes and student groups as possible.

Seeking project hosts for the "Launch Your Career Skills Initiative"
The Fleishman Center for Career and Professional Development and Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) is seeking campus partners to serve as project host sites for the "Launch Your Career Skills Initiative".
This paid program provides students registered with SSD the opportunity to develop career-ready skills through an eight-week, project-based experience. Students receive funding through SSD, and host sites provide a meaningful project, supervision, mentorship, and feedback throughout the experience.
Offices interested in hosting a student to complete a project that addresses a departmental need while helping the student gain valuable professional skills and experience are invited to apply. Projects should be designed to take approximately 50 hours to complete over eight weeks.

Environmental Health and Safety requires the use of permits for some events and programs that commonly occur on campus. Permits are required for using a tent larger than 200 square feet, events with greater than 1000 attendees, firework displays, campfires at any of the four campfire sites on campus, candle/sparkler use for an event such as a candlelight vigil, theatrical flame effects for theatrical or entertainment events, and drone flight.

Lane — Starke Tennis Center Pickleball Summer League: May 7-June 28
Join the Lane — Starke Tennis Center for session one of a two-part pickleball summer league. Whether you're a seasoned pro or new to pickleball, this is a great opportunity for you. Compete every week against many different teams for a chance to make the playoffs. Review the summer league details below and sign up before it's too late.
These events will take place from 5:30-7 p.m. on Thursdays from May 7-June 28. It costs $80 per team; co-ed teams are allowed!
The scoring system is to 11 by 2. Teams will play 4-5 matches/week, depending on the number of teams signed up, with rotating opponents. Teams will switch sides after six points; players will have a 10-minute warm-up at 5:30 p.m, with matches beginning immediately afterward.
Registration closes at 5 p.m. Monday, May 4.
The Lane — Starke Tennis Center will host an end-of-summer celebration for both sessions. Awards will be handed out, as well as programming opportunities for the fall.
All players will receive a risk statement and health questionnaire via email before the event. These forms must be completed before participating in match play. No refunds will be issued within 48 hours of the event start time.
The goal is to grow the pickleball community. Meet other players, enjoy competitive games, and experience a fun evening of pickleball.

East Gym will be open 7 a.m.–3 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. The building will be closed Saturdays and Sundays.

Note that Community Engagement Faculty Teaching and Research Enrichment Grants through the Center for Civic Engagement have newly revised guidelines, deadlines, and funding cycles for Standard and Small Grant requests.
- Standard Grants that support faculty with up to $5,000 in related project expenses for one of three tracks: 1) teaching community-engaged learning (CEL) courses, 2) course-based community-engaged research, and 3) community-based research and scholarship. Applications for fall 2026 are now being accepted for a July 1, 2026, deadline. The next deadline for spring 2027 will be Nov. 2, 2026.
- Small Grants with a similar application process, up to $1,000, will be accepted on a rolling basis.

Seeking breast milk donors for paid study
Researchers at Binghamton University School of Pharmacy are looking for healthy, milk-producing women to donate their excess breast milk (5-20 ounces) for use in research.
The overall purpose of the research is to help develop an assay to help predict medication secretion into breast milk during lactation. You must be 18 years or older to participate. You will be compensated with a $30 gift card for your time.

Survey about patient recovery needs
Students from Binghamton University are conducting research to recognize what designs could be used to support patient recovery and improve interprofessionalism, such as care collaboration and patient engagement, to develop more patient-centered digital health tools. The research team is seeking to survey the general population to gain insights into patient needs and perspectives on recovery during and after hypothetical hospitalization.

The survey should take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete, and all responses will remain anonymous. Participation is completely voluntary, and you may stop the survey at any time.

"Leading Change in Higher Education: A Practical Framework for Managers" PSS Supervisor Group event Thursday
Join the PSS Supervisor Group from 1-2:30 p.m. Thursday, June 11, via Zoom, for a session on change management, presented by Jon Hulbert of Roadmap 4 Change.
When a process, program, policy, or operation shifts, managers are the single biggest factor in whether their team successfully adopts the change. Yet change initiatives often run into resistance and skepticism. Employees may fear the unknown, feel the friction of learning new ways of working, or wonder whether their voice matters in shaping what comes next.
This workshop equips managers to lead change initiatives that stick by focusing on the three P's of change management:
1. Purpose: crafting a clear, value-added reason for the change that resonates with your team
2. Process: involving employees meaningfully in how the change unfolds
3. People: empowering those affected by the change with the tools, support, and confidence to succeed
Through interactive discussion and hands-on application, managers will learn and apply the 3 P's framework to plan a real change initiative they are currently leading or preparing to launch. Participants will also exchange strategies with colleagues across the institution, leaving with practical approaches drawn from peers who have navigated similar challenges in higher education.
Hulbert is the founder of Roadmap 4 Change, where he has spent the past decade helping organizations lead meaningful change. He has consulted with more than 60 institutions of higher education and coached over 200 leaders through technology-driven transformations, organizational restructuring, and cross-functional initiatives. Before launching Roadmap 4 Change, Hulbert served as the organizational change management specialist for both the University of Southern California and the University at Buffalo, partnering with senior leadership teams to strengthen culture and advance complex institutional priorities. His leadership development work has earned national recognition, including two award-winning programs honored by the American Association of State Colleges and Universities and the Workforce Magazine Game Changer Award, which recognizes 40 professionals under 40 shaping the future of the field. Join the Multicultural Resource Center from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, June 16, on Zoom for "Supervisory Training Part I: Understanding the Employee Accommodation Request Process".
Over the past few years, the workplace has changed its response to meeting the needs of employees with disabilities. According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, one in five adults will experience a mental illness each year. Based on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), supervisors and managers need to know how to respond to accommodation requests and how to interact with employees if a disability is disclosed (or not disclosed). In accordance with policy, this training will provide participants with best practices and an understanding of procedures to support faculty/staff and student employees with disabilities to improve accessibility.

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training is a free program that teaches individuals how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illnesses, including substance use disorders. Join the office for one or all of the new Starter Pack Series in July to learn more! The series will begin with the following July dates, just in time for fall hiring:
- 9-10 a.m. Monday, July 13 — "Designing Your Role – How to Create a High Impact Job Description"
- 9-10 a.m. Tuesday, July 14 — "Handshake Access and Posting Basics"
- 9-10 a.m. Monday, July 20 — "Candidate Management & the Hiring Process"
- 9-10 a.m. Tuesday, July 21 — "Offer Letters & Onboarding"
