Margaret Decker is a Clinical Assistant Professor for the Decker School of Nursing and is a certified nurse educator. She was chosen as one of six Engaged Faculty Fellows for Teaching Excellence for 2015-16. She is currently pursuing her PhD from the Decker School of Nursing.

Margaret is chair of the Decker Connection; she actively participates in campus activities like homecoming, Salamander Days, Family Weekend and University Fest and commencement.. She is a faculty fellow for the Mountainview College Community. She enjoys participating in events sponsored by the Center for Civic Engagement and the Center for Learning and Teaching. She engages students through flipped classroom style learning. She advises students from the Watson School of Engineering for the Senior Design Projects. She represents the Decker School of Nursing as a board member for the Broome County Community Organizations Active in Disaster.

Margaret is President of RevolutionS BMX LLC and President of Champion Speedway BMX track in Owego, NY. She is also a certified coach through the sanction of USABMX. She participates in the faith community through the Catholic Ministry as a lector at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Endicott, NY.

Research Interests:

Margaret is teaching a community-engaged course for undergraduate nursing students with Socialization into the Professional Role I. Her students will collect oral histories from local residents to help practice interview skills relevant to future patient interaction. This project will also engage the community to help recognize and celebrate the rich local history of the area and further her research interests with nurses and servant leadership.
