Binghamton University identifies the first Start-Up NY Company-ChromaNano Tech

The program is a decade-long, tax-free environment for new companies.

ChromaNano Tech is a venture born out of BU. It is a collaboration between a BU Department head, a research professor (former IBMer), a graduate student and two small business professionals. The purpose of Start-Up NY is to blend together the resources of a university with the spirit of entrepreneurship.

"This is an idea where something that started in a lab at the university is now having the opportunity to see the light of day and to, hopefully, create a new company that is going to create jobs and opportunities for Broome county and New York state,"  Jones said.
