The eighth Faculty Senate meeting of the 2003-2004 academic year will be held on Tuesday, January 27, at 11:45 a.m. in UU-133.
The agenda is:
1. Approval of minutes of January 20, 2004 Faculty Senate meeting (attached)
3. Old Business
a) Continued discussion of proposed change in the General Education guidelines to use advanced placement in the sciences as General Education science-lab courses, motion as amended at last meeting follows: “Under present policy, Binghamton University allows AP credit to satisfy General Education requirements in Aesthetics, Foreign Language, Humanities, Mathematics/Reasoning, and Social Science. This policy shall be changed so that AP credits also can satisfy the Laboratory Science ("L") requirement. The "L" requirement shall be satisfied by a score of 3 or better in Biology, Chemistry, or Environmental Science, a passing grade in the course, and approval by a Binghamton University faculty member of documentation of the laboratory activities. This change shall be made retroactive so that it applies to all students who are subject to the "new" General Education requirements."
