High-performance computing team makes breakthroughs

Kanad Ghose’s research in high-performance computing and computer architecture has resulted in several breakthrough designs in processor architecture, power-aware systems and high-performance computing infrastructure.

Kanad Ghose, professor and chair of the Department of Computer Science, and his team focus their research on high-performance computing and computer architecture.  Their work has resulted in several breakthrough designs in processor architecture, power-aware systems and high-performance computing infrastructures – setting the stage for better and faster computing power and function. Much of the work he and his students do is in partnership with scientists from IBM, Hewlett-Packard, Intel and BAE Systems.

And the importance of his research can’t be understated. Supported by grants from the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR), BAE, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), IBM, Intel Corporation and the National Science Foundation, among others, Ghose and his team are at the leading edge of high-performance microprocessor architectures and power-aware designs. He received a New York State Office of Science, Technology and Academic Research (NYSTAR) Technology Transfer Incentive award and has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles in highly selective conferences and top journals.
