ABOUT THE FOUNDATION

Our Mission

The Binghamton University Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation established to raise funds that further the purpose and mission of Binghamton University. Staff members and volunteers working on behalf of the Foundation foster and maintain partnerships with alumni, parents, friends and members of the University community.

The Foundation also educates others about charitable giving, matches institutional fundraising priorities with donors’ charitable intentions and provides stewardship of all assets held in trust for the benefit of the University.

About 80 percent of the University’s student population qualifies for need-based financial aid. Our incoming freshmen boast the highest average SAT scores of any SUNY university center, making merit-based scholarships another priority. To assist with these needs, the Foundation administers scholarships, awards and fellowships. Combined with internships, graduate-travel support and emergency loans, the Foundation provides about $1.5 million in aid each year to deserving students.

The Foundation also contributes funding for faculty hiring and retention, research support, academic programs, awards, grants, career networking and job placement assistance, admissions and alumni programs, general support, and the flexibility for the University to meet a variety of ongoing and critical needs.

The Foundation's board of directors consists of alumni, friends and elected officers. We invite you to contact one of our staff members for more information about the University and the Foundation.
