Research at Binghamton

Fresh, dynamic research is a vital component of graduate studies. At Binghamton University, students work in facilities and with faculty to propel that research forward.

The University's state-of-the art learning spaces serve students from all disciplines. Four libraries house over 5 million books, 81,000 journals, and multiple rare and special collections. The Innovative Technology Complex features state-of-the-art biology and engineering laboratories, while the Decker School of Nursing's Innovative Practice Center includes a hi-tech Sim Baby for sophisticated healthcare training. The leading-edge Zurack Trading Facility gives School of Management students highly sought hands-on experience. Twenty-six specialized research centers unite University researchers across the disciplines, and with entrepreneurship and innovation partnerships, faculty move ideas from the laboratory to the marketplace.

Even more importantly, Binghamton University professors are top scholars in their subjects. Nearly all of them—93 percent—hold the highest degree offered in their field. They include a Pulitzer Prize winner, a National Book Award winner, and numerous Fulbright, Ford and Guggenheim scholars. They are published experts on everything from the Victorian novel to nanocircuitry. And Binghamton University faculty work alongside their students; they not only offer their expertise, but often become valued mentors and friends as graduate students progress through their degrees.
