IMP majors must complete an integrative project during their last semester of study. The integrative project is so named because it is a final project that draws together all elements of the IMP major. Students propose their integrative project to the IMP committee in the semester preceding their final semester. The integrative project proposal includes a four- to five-page prospectus, a bibliography, and a letter of support from the faculty sponsor. In the past, students have planned and carried out community-outreach programs, produced stage plays and films, conducted statistics-gathering research, and written interdisciplinary theses. The integrative project requires registering for four credits worth of independent study. These independent study credits count towards the total limit of 8 credits of independent study allowable in the individualized major.
