Academic Assistance

    The Discovery Program helps students develop greater competence in handling educational and career responsibilities and explore ways to make meaningful contributions to society. Students have access to academic support and student-living services on campus, free peer tutoring and courses taught by faculty who maintain a student-centered perspective and support Discovery values and goals. Discovery Centers are located in residence communities and fellow students -- Discovery Assistants -- lives in each residence hall.

    The Center for Academic Excellence offers peer tutoring at no charge in a wide range of subjects. In addition, the center provides a small reference library and 22 computers linked to the campus network. Hours: Monday-Thursday 9 a.m. - 1 a.m. ; Friday 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; Saturday, noon-6 p.m. and Sunday 2 p.m.-1 a.m.College-in-the-Woods Library --Phone: (607)777-9235

The Writing Center provides tutoring by graduate students in the English Department. Hours: Monday, Wednesday 11 a.m.-5 p.m., 6 -8 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday 11 a.m.-5 p.m.; and Friday, 10 a.m.- 2 p.m.Library North-1209--Phone (607)777-6725

Counseling Services

The University's Counseling Center provides individual and group counseling and psychotherapy, and consultation for students, faculty and staff. The center also trains peer counselors, who are used in a number of programs.

Educational Opportunity Program

Supported by New York State's Educational Opportunity Program and the Federal Special Services Project, the Educational Opportunity Program offers special assistance in the form of counseling, tutoring, developmental course work and financial aid to financially and educationally disadvantaged students.
