Media Organizations Binghamton Television (BTV) is one of the few independent student-run television stations in the country. BTV is a rapidly growing center for those interested in journalism, drama and broadcast technology. If youre interested in producing television programs, or any aspect of working at a television station, stop by and see us. All majors are invited. Computer and Information Technology Newspaper publishes BETA, a compilation of the latest news for all computer users, from novice to expert. Our purpose is to educate and prepare students living in the computer age for the future. Experimental Media Organization is an umbrella group for alternative media, and is open to anyone interested in publishing content that falls outside of the mainstream (for example, pipe dream). EMOs main publication is fair use, a left-of-center biweekly. We always welcome anyone interested in starting a new alternative publication. Our office is in the University Union, room 166. Han Perspective is a bilingual, Korean-American interest magazine produced by Binghamton University Korean American students. The combination of the Korean and English languages represents the fusion of our Korean and American backgrounds. We realize that Korean Americans have views that are not always consistent with one culture or the other. Because of this, many find themselves lost somewhere in the middle of the cultural gap. Han Perspective aims to bridge that gap. Photographers, artists, writers, editors, managers and others are welcome! No experience is necessary. Contact David Kim at 729-9786. The Helm is an academic journal dedicated to publishing high-quality, original scholarly articles and literature. As a journal encompassing all disciplines, The Helm is an outlet for the scholarly and creative output of Binghamton University students. Moo! The Binghamton Humour Magazine is the satire and humor magazine of the Binghamton campus. Artists, photographers and writers are welcome to join. Pegasus is Binghamtons yearbook. The book is a photographic and journalistic overview of each year at Binghamton University. This is an excellent opportunity for aspiring writers and photographers. Pipe dream, Binghamtons twice-weekly student newspaper, is published every Tuesday and Friday. Completely student-run, it covers campus and local news, sports, entertainment and features; it is the largest student-run business on campus. If you are looking for experience in journalistic writing or editing, art, graphic design, sales, advertising or business, this is the place for you. (We are particularly interested in people who have a desire to learn, a lot of time on their hands and little or no need for sleep.) The Ring is an arts and literature organization that hosts readings, guest speakers and writing workshops. The Ring also publishes student fiction, poetry and artwork in its two magazines, Clarendon and Worksheet. Both publications offer useful experience in literary magazine editing, design and page layout, as well as valuable interaction for creative writing students. WHRW 90.5 FM is a student-run, FCC-licensed free-format radio station. An alternative source of music and information, it provides the campus and local community service groups an outlet in which to express their cultural, political and religious views. WHRW has expanded its musical horizons with more than 40,000 albums, tapes and CDs, making it the largest library of music in the Southern Tier. Free-format programming allows DJs to provide listeners with a wide variety of music. The news department broadcasts campus, local, national and world news. People interested in broadcast journalism may join the news department staff. The station is located on the second floor of the University Union above the Susquehanna Room; just follow the music and tune in. Call for requests at x72137.
