The Nature Preserve is the University's largest classroom:
190 acres of bliss, beauty and tranquility, 30 acres of beaver-created wetland, 185 bird species, animal and plant diversity providing a natural laboratory for biology and environmental studies.

Every spring, asphalt ramps help migrating salamanders scale the curbed roadways that separate their winter homes in the woods to wetland breeding areas. The salamanders and their habits provide ongoing research material.
