New Faculty & Staff Employment Forms
Welcome to our campus! We have provided the following to guide you through the employment process at Binghamton University.
As a new employee, we will need you to complete various forms before you begin. Completed forms should be forwarded to Human Resources on or before your start date to avoid a delay in your initial paycheck and employee benefits (if applicable).
Documentation is required for the I-9 form. This form must be signed in person at a Human Resources location most convenient for you.
Full or part-time faculty and professional staff should also return a signed offer letter to the appropriate Dean's office (faculty) or your hiring department (professional) as soon as possible.
If you do not have a local address at the time of your hire, you may want to consider using your department's mailing address when completing your forms. Please notify Human Resources as soon as possible once you have a permanent home address.
Before You Begin
If you are a new faculty and/or a non-teaching professional, please be sure that you return a signed offer letter to the appropriate hiring department or Dean's office.
Please note that while most of your employment data is collected by the hiring unit, for security and privacy reasons the collection of your social security number takes place centrally with Human Resources. Please contact our office at (607) 777-6977 at your earliest convenience to provide them with your number. You may also provide this to us in person. Human Resources is located on the second floor of the Couper Administration Building, Room 244.
Deficit Reduction Program - UUP
Per the UUP contract, all faculty and staff in the bargaining unit are subject to the Deficit Reduction Program (DRP) that is still in effect. This program will have an impact on paychecks through June 17, 2015.
The DRP was negotiated between the State of New York and United University Professions (UUP) in the 2011-2016 agreement. All new faculty and professional staff represented by UUP will see a percentage reduction of their biweekly gross salary in paychecks issued during the current academic year through June 17, 2015. Paychecks issued during July and August of 2014 will not be impacted by the DRP.
Faculty and staff who remain on the payroll for the full calendar year (12 months), regardless of work obligation, will see a 2.5% reduction of biweekly gross salary through the paycheck issued on June 18, 2014. Paychecks issued from September 24, 2014 through June 17, 2015, will reflect a 2% reduction. The majority of UUP faculty and staff fall under the category.
Faculty and staff who remain on the payroll for a semester, or only get paid during the academic year AND who have a 10-month work obligation, will see a 2.019% reduction of biweekly gross salary through the paycheck issued on June 18, 2014. Paychecks issued from September 24, 2014 through June 17, 2015, will reflect a 1.615% reduction.
The full cash value deducted from all paychecks issued January 2014 through the end of the program will be repaid to employees beginning in April 2016, and will be spread over a period of time.
