There will be a public lecture by the artist Rimer Cardillo at the opening reception of “Quiet Cruelties: Prints, Sculpture, and Unique Works on Paper” at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, at the University Art Museum (FA-213). Cardillo’s work combines a great range of printing methods and techniques, from woodcut, engraving and etching to aquatint, mezzotint and silkscreen to create enigmatic visual statements that feature insects rather than individuals. The exhibit will remain on display through March 23. Admission to the museum is free.
