Founded in the years following World War II, the “Tschaikowski”, St. Petersburg State Orchestra has an extremely diverse repertoire, ranging from Baroque music to the music of the 20th century. The Orchestra, with Music Director and Chief Conductor Roman Leontiev, regularly commissions and performs new compositions by both Russian and foreign composers tours all over the world, in addition to a regular subscription series. The program: Mahler’s Symphony No. 5, Chopin’s Concerto No. 2, Wagner’s Siegfried’s Rhine Journey and Wagner’s Siegfried’s Death and Funeral March. Time and date: 8 p.m. Feb. 14.
