Senior Jake Katz gained an unprecedented fourth consecutive America Sky Golfer of the Week award, the conference office announced. Katz has received the conference player of the week accolade every week since conference reporting began on Sept. 30.
Katz garnered his ninth career runner-up finish and 10th consecutive top-10 finish (dating back to last season) with a two-day total of 143 at the Lincoln Mercury Intercollegiate, hosted by Seton Hall University. Katz led the Bearcats to their second team title of the fall season, as he maintained his team-leading scoring average of 71.60.
In the opening round, Katz negotiated windy conditions with gusts up to 40 mph en route to firing the only round under par (70) in the field of 95 participants. He nearly secured his second individual title of the season but double-bogeyed the final hole and fell victim to a course record 8-under-par 64 by the defending champion Justin Martinson (Delaware University). With his second place performance, Katz has finished in the top-three or better individually in five of the six fall tournaments.
Katz improved his season win-loss-tie record to 500-11-6. He is the only player in Division I to have accumulated 500 wins thus far. (Only one other Division I player has even accumulated 400 wins: Brandon Park of Seton Hall University).
