O’Reilly leads women’s basketball team over UMass

Junior guard Orla O’Reilly had a team-high 16 points and junior point guard Andrea Holmes added 12 points and six rebounds, leading Binghamton (5-4) to a 58-52 win over UMass (1-9) in a non-conference women’s basketball game on Dec. 11 at the Mullins Center in Amherst, Mass.
With 6:47 remaining, the score was tied at 43-43. From there, however, the Bearcats went on a 12-5 run to go up 55-48 with 44 seconds left in regulation. Holmes had four points during that span and O’Reilly capped the run by sinking a pair of free throws.
O’Reilly had nine of her points in the opening 20 minutes as the Bearcats took a 28-23 lead at the break. She sank three of her five three-point attempts in the process.
Megan Zullo of UMass led all scorers with 17 points.
