Vinson, Schiedel remain unbeaten

Seniors Donnie Vinson (11-0) and Nate Schiedel (10-0) remained unbeaten with solid decisions. Junior 184-pound Cody Reed worked overtime to secure Binghamton’s other win - a 7-5 decision.
With five ranked wrestlers, the Sooners (4-1) used a pin, forfeit points, tech fall and two major decisions to compile their points.
Vinson, No. 1 in the nation at 149 pounds (AWN), improved to 110-24 in his stellar career, including a 60-8 career dual record. He scored a first-period takedown and worked from the bottom for a reversal early in the second period to go ahead 4-0. In the third period, Vinson added a reversal, takedown and riding time for the final 9-2 decision.
Schiedel, ranked No. 7 at 197, raised his career record to 101-28, 54-10 in duals. He recorded two takedowns in the first period to forge ahead 5-3. In the second period, Schiedel added another takedown in the second period and two more in the third, plus riding time, for the final 13-6 margin.
Reed used a quick takedown to start the third overtime period and end his match with a 7-5 decision. He had escaped early in the third period to force the extra sessions. After a scoreless first overtime, each wrestler escaped in the second.
