Women fifth, men sixth at America East Cross Country Championships
TweetSophomore Matt Johnson was 17th in the men’s race and senior Rachel Miura was 19th in the women’s race, highlighting Binghamton’s performance at the America East Cross Country Championships on Oct. 27, at the University of New Hampshire. The Bearcat men placed sixth out of eight teams while the women were fifth.
Johnson covered the 8,000-meter course in a time of 26:08. Senior Jeff Martinez was 22nd (26:20), sophomore Collin Frost was 25th (26:30), sophomore Jesse Garn was 32nd (26;41) and freshman Ethan Hausamann was 38th (26:53).
Eric Speakman of Stony Brook won the 78-runner race in a time of 25:11. In the process, he led the Seawolves to the team title.
Miura, meanwhile, completed the 5,000-meter course in a time of 17:39. Freshman Alexis Hatcher was 27th (18:07), freshman Lizzie Greiner was 32nd (18:18), junior Caitlin Jelinek was 38th (18:22) and freshman Naomi Barnett was 52nd (18:52).
Keely McGuire of host New Hampshire won the 77-runner meet in a time of 16:32. Stony Brook, however, repeated as the team champions.
