Women’s basketball team defeats Mt. St. Mary’sTweet
Junior forward Viive Rebane scored 18 points and added nine rebounds, leading Binghamton (6-4) to a 53-39 win over Mt. St. Mary’s (1-8) in a women’s basketball game on Saturday afternoon at Knott Arena in Emmitsburg, Md. The win extended the Bearcats’ unbeaten streak to three games.
Rebane had 10 points and seven rebounds in the opening 20 minutes as the Bearcats took a 28-18 lead at the break. Binghamton limited the Mount to just five field goals during that span.
Mt. St. Mary’s cut the deficit to six points before the Bearcats went on a 10-0 run to take a 44-28 lead with six minutes to play. Rebane had four points during that run.
The Mount got to within 46-39 with 1:09 to play but the Bearcats closed out the game on a 7-0 run. Rebane sank a pair of free throws during that final push.
Freshman guard Jasbriell Swain added 12 points and six rebounds while junior guard Orla O’Reilly chipped in 10 points.
Sandra Andersson led Mt. St. Mary’s with 10 points.
