Women’s soccer team falls to Syracuse
TweetHost Syracuse scored four second-half goals to turn a 0-0 halftime score into a 4-0 victory over Binghamton women’s soccer (2-4) on Sept. 12, at the SU Soccer Stadium.
The Orange (3-3-2), outshot Binghamton 16-3 for the game (12-1 in second half) and scored all four goals in a span of just over 20 minutes. They tallied twice in a 2:13 span midway through the second half (68th and 70th minutes) and added two more late goals to complete the scoring.
“We battled and played pretty well in the first half,” head coach Sarah McClellan said. “But in the second half we lost our focus and didn’t maintain responsibility for 90 minutes. When you do that against a Big East team, they will take advantage. We need to refocus ourselves and recommit to playing a 90-minute game. If we do that, we will bounce back.”
Freshmen keeper Carrie Martin made six saves.
Senior center back Leora Kenney was named the America East Player of the Game.
