Wrestling wins at Boston University
TweetBinghamton wrestling (2-6) made it two in a row with a convincing 26-13 dual win over host Boston University at Case Gym in Boston on Dec. 9. The Bearcats, who began the weekend with a 23-12 win at Princeton on Dec. 7, won six of the 10 bouts, using a pin and two technical falls to build bonus points.
Binghamton’s nationally ranked wrestlers came through with big results as senior No. 3 Donnie Vinson (13-0) recorded a pin at 149 pounds and senior No. 6 Nate Schiedel (12-0) rolled to a 17-2 technical fall at 197. Both wrestlers remained unbeaten on the season.
Senior 125-pound Patrick Hunter scored a technical fall in his match to give the Bearcats a lead they would never relinquish. Senior 133-pound Derek Steeley followed with a major decision. Redshirt freshman 165-pound Vincent Grella and junior 184-pound Cody Reed earned narrow decisions for Binghamton’s other victories.
The Bearcats are off until the team heads to Northwestern for the Midlands Championship on Dec. 29-30.
