Hong Zhang, instructor of Asian and Asian American Studies, has published a book, Cultural Chinese: Readings in Art, Literature, and History (co-authored with Zu-yan Chen, Georgetown University Press, 2012). She gave workshops on “Teaching Chinese through Song” at the National Chinese Language Conference, Annual Meeting of the Chinese Language Teachers Association-Greater New York, Kennesaw State University, Portland State University, University at Buffalo, University of Virginia, York University in Canada, and at Nankai University and Zhejiang University in China. Zhang also gave lecture-recitals on “Chinese Ethnic Groups and Their Songs” at the United States Naval Academy, Portland State University, York University, and University of Toronto at Scarborough in Canada, and Nankai University in China.
