World AIDS Day Awareness Week event today| December 4, 2013
This week is Binghamton World AIDS Day Awareness Week. Come join R.E.A.C.H as we raise awareness and increase education around HIV/AIDS. Our event, "Awareness through Expression," is from 7-9 p.m. tonight, Dec. 4, in UU-Old Union Hall. The event will feature performances by the Binghamton Ballroom Dance Association, the SUNY Oneonta Poetry Slam Team, student rapper Taylor Koulick, and poetry slam artist Tara Betts, whose poetry has been published in multiple journals and anthologies.
Admission is free. Cookies and hot cocoa will be served.
Binghamton University Flute Studio and Chamber Concert| December 4, 2013
Join us for the Binghamton University Flute Studio and Flute Chamber Concert, with accompanist Chai-Kyou Mallinson under the direction of Georgetta Maiolo, at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, in FA-Casadesus Recital Hall. The concert will feature soloists as well as a flute trio with Binghamton University student flutists: Kohar Bedonian, Jessica Biagotti, Eleni Florakis, Brandy Greene, Devin Kasinki, Michelle Li, Cara Natale and Jacqueline Robins. The program will include “Sleigh Ride” by Frederick Delius, arranged by Jane Gannaway, “Shenandoah” by Ricky Lombardo, “Variations on a Theme of Mozart for Flute and Piano” by Reynaldo Hahn, “Peaches for Flute and Piano” by Andre Previn and much more! Magazine donations requested| December 4, 2013
Have old magazines at home you can donate? We will use magazines for a project benefiting the Children's Home at the event "Help De-Stress Yourself by Helping Your Community," taking place from 2-5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, in UU-108.

2014 health insurance rates announced| December 3, 2013
The effective date for health insurance changes is Jan. 2, 2014. The first paycheck to be affected by the new rates will be Dec. 31, 2013. Employees must submit their changes to the Office of Human Resources no later than Dec. 31. No action is required if you are retaining the same health plan for 2014.

Second College of Community and Public Affairs dean candidate to make presentation| December 3, 2013
Samuel L. Brown, tenured associate professor, University of Baltimore, and candidate for dean of the College of Community and Public Affairs, will provide a public presentation from 1:15-2:15 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, at the University Downtown Center, room 220 A/B. A shuttle bus will be available for those wishing to attend and will return to the main campus after the presentation. The shuttle will leave from the University Union bus stop for the UDC at 12:45 p.m. and return to the main campus at 2:15 p.m.
Brown will discuss “How can the College of Community and Public Affairs build on its commitment to community engagement, social justice, diversity, and academic and scholarly excellence to provide leadership in helping Binghamton University increase research, strengthen graduate education, and build relationships with the community?” His presentation will be followed by a 30-minute informal chat where faculty, staff and students will have the opportunity to meet and mingle informally with her.

Jewelry making workshop Thursday| December 3, 2013
The Binghamton University Fine Arts Society will host a jewelry making workshop from noon-5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, outside of the University Art Museum in the Fine Arts Building. Stop by to make and buy a piece of jewelry for yourself or a loved one in time for the holiday season. The cost is $5 to make earrings and $10 to make a necklace.
