Faculty/staff encouraged to submit to weekly ‘Chronicle’ feature
March 9, 2016
Participate in the “What I’m Reading” feature, which runs every week in the “People” section of The Chronicle of Higher Education. For “What I’m Reading,” a college administrator or faculty member responds to this question: What have you read lately that is insightful and useful to you as you think about higher education?
Your response should be 150-200 words and can refer to a book, newspaper article or column, journal article, or anything else, whether current or not, that has given you ideas about higher education. What you’ve read could be on the subject of higher education, or it could be on another subject as long as it offers insights that you can apply to higher education. Describe the publication briefly and then explain the inspiration you gained from it. If you are referring to an online article, include a link to it.
The Chronicle is looking for ideas and submissions on an ongoing basis. The Office of Media and Public Relations would help faculty and staff develop a good submission to share.

Faculty asked to encourage senior students to complete survey
March 2, 2016
As senior students receive their e-mail invitations to participate in a Web-based College Senior Survey, faculty are asked to encourage them to complete the survey prior to its April 30 deadline.
The national survey examines the effectiveness of college by connecting students’ academic, civic and diversity outcomes with a comprehensive set of college experiences. The survey, conducted by the Higher Education Research Institute (HERI) at UCLA, is designed as an exit survey. Results will help Binghamton University better understand our students’ needs, how we can provide improved educational opportunities for them and how we fare when compared to other colleges and universities nationwide. Confidentiality will be maintained and only aggregate data will be reported.
Each student who completes and submits a survey by April 30, 2016, will be automatically entered into a drawing to win one of 20 Barnes & Noble gift cards with a value up to $100.
If you have any questions about the project or how the University will use the survey results, contact Nasrin Fatima via e-mail
or at 607-777-2365.
