Interpersonal Violence Prevention Coordinator Jessica Krohn reminds campus that the IVP program exists to provide victim-centered information, referrals and advocacy to students, living on and off campus, who have questions about or have been a victim of interpersonal violence. Interpersonal violence includes harassment (in person and online), stalking, bullying, relationship and/or dating violence, sexual coercion, assault and rape. Krohn can answer questions, provide referrals for University and community resources and serve as an advocate for students who have experienced interpersonal violence.

Registration is open for the 2013 SUNY Critical Issues in Higher Education Conference, Oct. 29-30, in New York City. This year’s conference is titled “Building a Smarter University: Big Data, Innovation and Ingenuity.” The conference will examine how the big data movement could help build smarter universities – improving the student learning experience, enhancing the research enterprise, supporting effective community outreach, strengthening the education pipeline and advancing the university infrastructure. How do you know your instructional efforts are worthwhile? Teaching in any discipline can be considered an experiment. With a bit of thought and planning, you can discover what is best for student learning, how to replicate the successes of others in your field, even publish practical discoveries from your own teaching. The 15th spring conference of the Institute for Student-Centered Learning will explore how teaching can be informed by research and how to integrate your own scholarship into your courses. Join us from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, and from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, May 22.

Graduate student registration begins at 9 a.m. Friday, April 5 at 9 a.m. Undergraduate student registration begins at 9 a.m. Monday, April 8. Students have received communication directing them to check their registration start time (or time tickets) on BU BRAIN. Registration start time is based on the number of earned credit hours (in-progress courses are not included). Pre-registration closes on the last day of spring 2013 classes or 11:59 p.m. Friday, May 10.

SUNY and the Research Foundation announce two grant programs:
1. SUNY/RF Research Collaboration Fund: This program is designed to encourage new and existing inter-SUNY collaborations in areas that can be developed into long term partnerships with sustained growth. The program will consider inter-disciplinary, multi-investigator, multi-campus proposals for research projects or pilot studies needed to generate preliminary data to qualify for future funding for larger-scale proposals. Projects can be proposed as either one or two year projects at a maximum of $50,000 per year. Deadline for applications is May 15, 2013. Complete details can be found online.
2. SUNY Faculty Research Travel Grant Program: This program grants travel funds of up to $1,000 for faculty to meet with program officers at federal funding agencies. Applications must be submitted at least one month prior to the meeting and include an estimate of travel expenses. Complete details can be found online.

The Binghamton University "Ask a Scientist" program is seeking contributors. In a partnership with the Press & Sun Bulletin, faculty, staff and graduate students answer questions submitted by area school children. Answers, which run 250-500 words, are published in the newspaper and appear on the University’s Web site. Deadlines are flexible.
