Application deadline for Faculty-Student Scholarship Program is Feb. 18| December 12, 2013
Faculty and staff are asked to remind students that the deadline to apply for the 2014-2015 Faculty-Student Scholarship Program is 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014. Applicants must be juniors, seniors or graduate students during the 2014-15 academic year and have a 3.2 cumulative GPA. Recipients will earn $3,200 working 10 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters in one of the following on-campus sites/positions:
Athletics Communications (Digital Media Assistant); Evolutionary Studies Program (EvoS Research Videographer and Media Specialist); GIS Campus Core Facility (Regional Demographic Analyst); Harpur Advising Office (Pre-Law Advising Assistant); Office of Entrepreneurship and Innovation Partnerships (Student Entrepreneurship Liaison); Office of International Student and Scholar Services (International Education Assessment Assistant); Student Affairs Assessment and Strategic Initiatives (Research and Assessment Assistant); Provost Office, Freshmen Immersion Program (Research Videographer and Multi-media Assistant); Undergraduate Research Center/Office of External Scholarships (Communications Assistant); Career Development Center/The Graduate School (Graduate Student Services Assistant)

Monnica T. Williams, associate director of the Center for Mental Health Disparities at the University of Louisville, will speak at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, in AA-G08. The title of her talk is “Barriers to Treatment for OCD: Stigma, Race, and Hidden Populations.” This colloquium is part of the 2013-2014 Harpur College Dean’s Speaker Series – Multiculturalism and Diversity in Psychological Research and Practice.
University Union fire alarm system testing Dec. 12-13| December 12, 2013
Testing/programming of the University Union fire alarm system will take place from 7 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12 and Friday, Dec. 13. While testing involves primarily the system in the north part of the UU, the south and west UU may also be affected. It has come to the attention of Human Resources that incorrect envelopes were inadvertently used for the mailing of the 2014 enrollment confirmation notices. If you have received mail in envelopes with the WageWorks name printed on the return address, open the envelope immediately, since its contents are time-sensitive.
Bookstore asks instructors to submit book orders for spring courses| December 11, 2013
The University Bookstore asks any instructor who has not yet submitted a book order for the spring semester to do so as soon as possible. The Bookstore has received orders for 65 percent of the spring courses.
Recreation Center end-of-semester and January hours| December 11, 2013
The Recreation Center, East Gym, will close at 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20 and will remain closed until Thursday, Jan. 2, at which time our winter intersession hours begin.
Between January 2-22, the Rec Center will be open from 5:45 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Friday and from 9 a.m.-4 p.m Saturday-Sunday. During this time in January, current faculty, staff and students are invited to take part in all programming, including open rec, FitSpace and all fitness classes for free. A valid University ID will be required to access the building.

Remove vehicles from snow lots| December 11, 2013
This is just a reminder that vehicles should be removed from snow lots to aid in snow removal efforts.
A number of parking areas are designated as snow lots. These lots must be clear of cars between 1-6 a.m. Nov. 15 to March 30, seven days a week, to allow for snow removal. Vehicles parked in snow lots at these times and dates will be ticketed and/or towed. The snow lots are: all commuter lots, the Library Tower, Lot A, Lot F, Lot F1, Lot F2, Lot G, Lot J, Lot K, Lot M0, M-2, M-3, M-4, Lot Q2, Lot V, Lot W (the Visitor's Paid Lot), Lot Y2 and Lot Z.

The Office of Human Resources would like to remind current participants in the health care and dependent care flexible spending account (FSA) program of the Dec. 31 deadline.
Your 2013 FSA contributions must be exhausted by Dec. 31, 2013 to avoid forfeiture of remaining funds. Your receipts for expenses incurred during the 2013 calendar year may be submitted for reimbursement until March 31, 2014.
