Antique show at Events Center this weekend| April 22, 2014
The Binghamton Sertoma Club’s Million Dollar Antique Show will be held on campus at the Events Center, April 25, 26 and 27. All proceeds from the show benefit Camp Sertoma and other local charities. Show hours/admission: 5-8 p.m. Friday, $10 preview featuring Al Hamme and Friends, pass good all weekend; 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, $7; 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, $7. Affinities, Dialogues and Divergences| April 21, 2014
Art faculty engage with the Permanent Collection in this exhibition which runs from April 22 through May 24. An opening reception will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, April 24, in the main gallery of the Binghamton University Art Museum. Eleven faculty members from the Department of Art selected a single work of art from the museum’s permanent collection to serve as an inspiration for an original work of art. The object chosen by the artist is installed alongside the new work. Graduate students from the Department of Art History interviewed the artists and composed labels to accompany each artist’s installation. Participating faculty members include Jim Bohary, Frank Chang, Alexandra Davis, Ronald Gonzalez, Blazo Kovacevic, Natalija Mijatovic, Kathryn M. Niles, Costa Sakellariou, Jim Stark, John Thomson and Michael Wesko.

Chinese language and Beijing Opera summer camp| April 17, 2014
The Confucius Institute will host a Chinese language/performing arts summer day-camp from July 28 through Aug. 15. “Sounds of China: STARTALK Learn Chinese through Beijing Opera Performance” will be held from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday, on campus. An application is required, but the program is free and open to students entering grades 6-12.

Cheer coach position available| April 16, 2014
The Athletics Department is looking for a part-time coach for the Bearcats cheer team. It is preferred that candidates have college-level experience (coaching or cheering). Candidates must possess first-aid, CPR and AACCA safety certifications. The season runs from September through March, with approximately 30 home games.

The Lesbian and Gay Family Building Project is hosting a Provider Training Day event, "Working with Transgender Individuals and Their Families," from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday, April 25, at the University Downtown Center. Designed for health and human service providers and educators, participants in this 6-hour training will gain skills, knowledge and understanding; find resources; and identify and demonstrate strategies for providing competent, compassionate and inclusive services to transgender-spectrum individuals and their families. Breakfast and lunch are included. Certificate of completion provided. Registration is required

Participants wanted for Lyme disease survey| April 16, 2014
The Binghamton University Lyme Disease Research Project is studying Lyme disease risk in Broome County and on campus. This project is led by Ralph Garruto in the Department of Anthropology.
In order to participate you must:
- Be 18 years or older
- Live in Broome County and/or frequent the Binghamton University Campus
- Be willing to fill out a 20 minute self-administered survey online or in person

Research Foundation business system shutdown| April 15, 2014
The Research Foundation business system will be shut down the week of April 28 and will become available Monday, May 5. The shutdown is necessary to complete a major upgrade to the system and to put new Principal Investigator Reporting Tools into production. During the shutdown, no business transactions can be processed. Forward payroll, purchasing and accounts payable documents, and any requests to establish a new Research Foundation account, to Sponsored Funds as soon as possible. Further information will be available as the shutdown timeframe approaches.
