Low back problems in sedentary work environments
May 29, 2014Tweet
Low back problems are not restricted to manual material handling tasks. Sedentary work environments requiring a prolonged sitting posture also contribute to low back problems. A proper ergonomic workstation can help avoid these issues. A chair with a backrest and proper lumbar support will result in the transfer of body weight to the backrest and reduced disc pressure. Properly adjusted seat height and adequate leg space can help reduce back stress. Sedentary workers should take breaks to stand up and walk around to improve blood circulation.
