Fine Arts museum sprinkler installation begins June 9

Construction to install a new sprinkler system for the University Art Museum begins Monday, June 9. Construction includes installing a new water line in the southeast corner of the Fine Arts building and interior work to install the new sprinkler system and associated ceilings and finishes in the museum. Heavy equipment will be used during excavation for the water line. The contractor will have exclusive use of the lower southeast building entrance, and the area will be fenced off. The door will be available for emergency exit only. Signs will be posted for building occupants. Once the water line is installed outside, remaining work will be contained within the museum. We expect that the trench work will take approximately three weeks to complete. Most construction will be completed by August 21, with final completion by Sept. 26.
