Edward Longo, lab equipment designer, dies

Edward Longo, 53, died unexpectedly Wednesday, July 9, in Windsor, N.Y. A graduate of Vestal High School, he joined the staff at Binghamton University for several months in 2003, working as a maintenance assistant in Physical Facilities, then returned in 2006, as a laboratory equipment designer for the psychology and biology departments, and remained in that position. He was co-founder of the Vestal Center Motorcycle Club, president of the Windsor Sportsmen’s Association and a top world-ranked bench rest shooter. He is survived by his wife, Lisa, a sister, a son and daughter-in-law, two step-children and their spouses, a granddaughter and the mother of his son. Calling hours will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, at Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home, 765 Main St., Vestal. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Main St., Vestal. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to The Humane Society, 2 Jackson St., Binghamton, NY 13903.
