Guest speaker Jenny Kao-Kniffin, assistant professor of urban weed ecology at Cornell University, will discuss experiments in progress that illustrate the impact of soil microorganisms on plant development and fitness.
Kao-Kniffin received her bachelor’s degree in environmental studies and her master’s degree in biological sciences from Binghamton before earning her PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in land resources, with a specialization in ecosystem microbiology. She joined the Department of Horticulture at Cornell in 2010, where she examines the ecology of urban ecosystems, with a focus on plant-microbial interactions.
