Former student diagnosed with TB; University taking precautionary measures
Tweet
A Binghamton University student was diagnosed with pulmonary tuberculosis in his hometown over the winter break. As a precautionary measure, and under the direction of the Broome County Health Department, a specific group of individuals who have been identified as close contacts are being advised to undergo screening. If you have not been notified, testing for tuberculosis is not suggested at this time. The individual who was originally diagnosed with tuberculosis did not return for the spring semester. The student is no longer contagious and is doing well. If you have any questions about tuberculosis or possible tuberculosis exposure, call the Broome County Health Department TB Control Program at 607-778-2839 or the Decker Student Health Services Center at 607-777-2221. Additional information can be found from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Guidelines for Investigation of Contacts of Persons with Infectious Tuberculosis.
