Registration for the 2013 United Way Day of Caring, taking place Friday, Sept. 13, is open online. The annual, community-wide day of service is coordinated by the Broome County United Way in commemoration of the 9/11 tragedy. Service projects are matched on a first-come, first-served basis. If a University department or program wishes to organize a group of their staff to participate together in a service project and represent Binghamton University, subject to supervisor approval, employees may so participate without charging vacation or leave time. While involvement in the Day of Caring is encouraged, if employees wish to individually volunteer for a service project with the United Way or under the auspice of another community agency, employees will need to request vacation or leave time to do so. To register yourself or your group, go online
. After registering, e-mail the Center for Civic Engagement with your and/or your group's name, and contact information for all participants.
