In accordance with Federal Immigration policy and the State University of New York Board of Trustees Resolution passed in June 1985, health insurance is mandatory for all international students and scholars (F-1 and J-1 visa ), enrolled at SUNY campuses. Health insurance overage for family dependents (wife, husband, children) staying with you in the United States is also required.
Your International Health Insurance Carrier is HTH Worldwide. It provides comprehensive medical insurance coverage for accidents and illness, plus a medical and security evacuation and repatriation program. The insurance policy brochure is found at http://www.binghamton.edu/isss/health-insurance/BUPartBroc.pdf and a full policy document is found at http://www.binghamton.edu/isss/health-insurance/SUNYIntInsPolCert.pdf
Please see the power point presentation linked below which covers the concepts of health care and insurance coverage in the United States and summarizes how to use your HTH Worldwide insurance while you are a student at Binghamton University.
Note to Visiting Scholars enrolled in HTH insurance: Elements of the presentation do not apply to visiting scholars. The differences are that 1) you must enroll in the insurance program by visiting the ISSS office upon your arrival in the United States, 2) medical care is not provided through the Decker Student Health Services Center. Scholars and their dependents must seek medical care from off campus medical doctors and providers participating in the AETNA network found at http://www.aetna.com/docfind/disclaimer.jsp?site_id=passport Questions regarding your health insurance coverage may be addressed to the Health Insurance team at Intl.firstname.lastname@example.org
