3. Limited Availability of Some ISSS Staff During August

During the next several weeks (August 3 - August 28), Ellen Badger, Karen Keefe-Guzikowski and Amelia Shafer will be devoting most of their time to international student orientation, both preparation and presenting at the actual program, which starts August 24. Thus, their availability for appointments will be limited as we get closer to Orientation. Please keep this in mind when sending e-mails or requesting appointments with them.

4. Binghamton University Again Receives Top Recognition On Princeton Review’s 2010 Green Rating Honor Roll

Binghamton University Inside reports that for the second year in a row, Binghamton University has received top recognition by The Princeton Review in its ‘Green Rating” of colleges. One of only 15 colleges so recognized this year, Binghamton University is the only SUNY institution and the only university in New York state named to the honor roll. This is the second year for the honor roll. Binghamton was one of only 11 schools in the list last year. To achieve the recognition, the University earned a score of 99 – the highest score possible – for its environmentally related policies, practices and academic offerings.

5. Arrival of New International Students

Although it is still several weeks until the Monday, August 24 start of international student orientation, new international students have begun to arrive. If you happen to meet a new student, please be sure to direct them to the office of International Student and Scholar Services. Although ISSS will not be photocopying visa documents until International Student Orientation August 24-26, 2009, the ISSS is recording new student arrivals and distributing their very helpful early arrival information packet. ISSS looks forward to welcoming another large class of international students this Fall!

The Fall 2009 International Student Orientation Program will be posted very soon on the ISSS website at: http://isss.binghamton.edu

ISSS also thanks the many current international students who have been in contact with new students and are helping them in the first days of their arrival at Binghamton. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
