BEGINNINGS 2009
INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ORIENTATION!
Dear International Student:
Congratulations on your admission to Binghamton University!
As you make preparations to begin your studies in the United States, you may have many questions such as: When will you learn what courses you should register for? When will you be able to meet other international students? and most importantly, what are the US federal immigration regulations that govern my F1 or J1 visa status?
Beginnings, the Fall 2009 International Student Orientation is designed to provide you with the answers to your questions about what you can expect at Binghamton University. If you are a student in F-1 or J-1 status, your participation in Orientation is essential even if you have previously been a student at another US college or university and attended the orientation program there. Each school has different policies, and it is essential that you attend the necessary meetings to help you register for appropriate courses. It is much easier to meet people and get things done before everyone gets busy with classes in the Fall.
Beginnings, the Fall 2009 International Student Orientation is scheduled for Monday, August 24, 2009 through Thursday, August 27. For exchange students and Dual Diploma students, the Orientation begins Sunday, August 23, 2009.
During orientation you will receive information that you won't easily obtain at any other time. International Student Orientation provides essential information on:
- US immigration regulations governing employment, travel and course load
- University registration procedures
- academic success
- health insurance
- personal health and safety
You will also have the opportunity to interact with faculty, staff and students, ask questions about academic offerings, student services, living in the United States and what it's like to be a student at Binghamton University.
