Former chemistry instructor Lois Mackey dies

Former chemistry instructor Lois Draper Mackey, 91, died March 9, 2012, at Riverwoods in Exeter, N.H.

A graduate of the University of New Hampshire with a degree in chemistry, she worked as a chemist for GAF (formerly ANSCO) and in 1963 began her 16-year affiliation with Binghamton University as a chemistry instructor, retiring in 1978. The photo of her ran in the fall 2011 issue of Binghamton University Magazine.

She was a Town of Binghamton councilwoman for 14 years, and active in the League of Women Voters and the Unitarian Universalist Congregation. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law; four grandchildren and their spouses; and two great-grandchildren.
