Former coach Baldwin dies
Former Binghamton University men’s basketball coach Dick Baldwin passed away Dec. 8 in Tampa, Fla., at age 90. Baldwin coached 45 years and amassed an incredible 961 wins — the first 879 coming in 40 years for Broome Community College.
In 1991, Baldwin left retirement to take over Binghamton’s struggling men’s basketball program. In five seasons, his Colonials won 82 games and produced the three most successful seasons in the program’s Division III history. The team was 23-7 in the 1993-94 season.
Baldwin was inducted into Binghamton’s Athletics Hall of Fame in 2006 and also is a member of the NJCAA and New York State Basketball Halls of Fame.
