Valerie Hampton is Binghamton University’s new chief diversity officer, leading the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

The new office supports one of the strategic priorities of the University’s Road Map, which is to foster a diverse and inclusive campus culture.

“At Binghamton University, we view diversity as encompassing all individuals and groups, as well as social, cultural, political, religious and other affiliations,” Hampton says. “Through this enhanced office, we will continue to develop ways the campus can exhibit respect for human diversity in our learning and working environs and create an atmosphere where prejudice, harassment and discrimination are unacceptable.”

Hampton was previously director of the University’s Office of Affirmative Action for 12 years.
