Hello and farewell



Anne McCall is the new dean of Harpur College of Arts and Sciences. She is a scholar of 19th-century French literature and was, for the past five years, dean of arts, humanities and social sciences at the University of Denver. McCall started on Aug. 1. Patricia Ingraham, PhD ’79, founding dean of the College of Community and Public Affairs, retired in June. A public policy expert and formerly distinguished professor of public administration at Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, Ingraham had been dean of CCPA since August 2006. Laura Bronstein, chair and professor of social work, is interim dean while a national search for a new dean is under way. Read a profile of Ingraham.

Marcia Craner, MA ’94, stepped down as vice president for external affairs in June. Craner, who has been with the University in various roles for more than 30 years, will begin teaching philanthropy in the College of Community and Public Affairs in 2014. Rebecca Benner, senior executive director of advancement operations, is the interim vice president for the newly formed Division of Advancement (replacing the Division of External Affairs) while a search is made for a new vice president.
