Spring 2011
In 10 years, Harpur Palate has gone from being an idea to being an institution. And now the literary journal is celebrating a decade of publishing poetry, prose and creative nonfiction.
The biannual journal, produced by graduate students in English, has published works by established and emerging writers such as the award-winning Sherman Alexie.
“They are freely submitting to the journal,” says Barrett Bowlin, the journal’s internship coordinator. “We’re not calling them up and begging them for submissions. … We’re finally one of the cool kids.”
The latest edition was released in February, and the anniversary celebration continues this spring. Visit the website for details and to order a current or back issue of the journal. The website also has audio of contributing writers reading their works. A one-year subscription is $16; a two-year subscription is $30.
