Hugh Grant was in Binghamton for filming this spring.

Actor Hugh Grant will be teaching at Binghamton University — in a movie being directed by Marc Lawrence ’81, that is.

Grant was in Binghamton in the spring to film parts of the as-yet untitled romantic comedy in which he plays an Oscar-winning writer in a slump who leaves Hollywood to teach screenwriting at an East Coast school. There, he falls in love with a single mother who is taking classes.

The film also features Marisa Tomei, J.K. Simmons and Chris Elliot.

Lawrence has written and directed other movies with Grant, including Did You Hear about the Morgans?, Music and Lyrics and Two Weeks Notice. His writing credits include The Out-of-Towners and the two Miss Congeniality movies starring Sandra Bullock.
