Ancient Egyptians “came alive”
It was with nostalgia and great fondness that I read your piece on the retirement of Professor Gerald Kadish.
In the late 1960s I took his course in Egyptian history, which introduced me to an entirely different culture and world view. Kadish made the Egyptians of antiquity live and breathe so that we could imagine what it meant to be one of them.
His course motivated me to pursue an advanced degree in history, which led to a doctorate from Carnegie-Mellon University in 1974. More importantly, his inspiration has remained throughout my subsequent career in academics and enterprise as exemplary.
