Eligibility Requirements

You must meet one of the following criteria:

  • You are a first generation college student from an economically disadvantaged background, or
  • You are from an ethnic group underrepresented in graduate programs, specifically African-American, Latino, or Native American.

You must also:

  • Be a US citizen or permanent resident.
  • Be an undergraduate student at Binghamton University.
  • Have a good record of academic achievement (minimum GPA 3.0).
  • Be committed to attending graduate school.
  • Be a hard worker that will do what it takes to be your best.
  • Be a sophomore or junior (seniors are accepted on a limited basis).

Targeted disciplines:

Your major should be in the social sciences, natural sciences and humanities. Students in other disciplines who have a keen interest in attending graduate school are encouraged to apply. However, first priority is given to students in the targeted disciplines.

Please note that seniors with a strong academic record are encouraged to apply also. A limited number of seniors will be accepted each year.
