Abstract:
Title: Why should the United States care about Africa’s
AIDS crisis?
Africa’s AIDS Crisis and Implications
for the United States.
Africa’s AIDS crisis constitutes an evolving threat
to the national security of both the United States and
Sub-Saharan African states. With the Middle East embroiled
in perpetual turmoil, resource-rich Africa emerges as a
potential alternative to satisfy increasing U.S. demand
for oil. Nevertheless, the rap id incidence of African
AIDS/HIV infections will not only curtail efforts for future
petroleum investment and extraction, but also potentially
spreading to nations of strategic importance to the United
States; namely, India, China, and Russia
