Research

Object recognition is an important concept in many psychological studies about the human visual and perceptual system.  How do infants develop the ability to recognize objects from novel viewpoints?  Six-month-old infants will be habituated to objects rotating through a large or a small range of different views on a computer and will then be tested for their ability to recognize these objects from a novel view.  Infants will be tested with novel objects as well.  Artificial objects will be used to ensure that infants cannot use prior experience with the objects to inform their performance in this task.
