Research Lab: Microfluidics and Multiphase Flow Laboratory

Teaching/Research Focus: Microfluidics, Multiphase Flows, Electrohydrodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Energy

Dr. Chiarot received the BASc, MASc, and PhD degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toronto. From 2008 to 2009, he was a post doctoral research associate at the University of Rochester. Dr. Chiarot has published over twenty papers in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings; and his work has been featured by the Institute of Physics. He has collaborated with large and small private sector companies and has one issued US patent. He has held the University of Toronto Glynn Williams Fellowship and the NSERC Post Graduate Scholarship.
Dr. Chiarot joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the State University of New York at Binghamton in 2011 where he directs the Microfluidics and Multiphase Flow Laboratory. His research interests include: advanced additive manufacturing using electrospray printing and continuous ink jet technology, microfluidic bio-instrumentation for biofilm and membrane biology studies, synthetic cells/vesicles, and the fluid mechanics of the brain.
