Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
The curriculum has been designed to provide strong technical preparation in mechanical
engineering. Students enter the BSME program either as freshmen, as transfers from
other schools such as community colleges or other SUNY schools, or as internal transfers
or dual degree programs from Harpur College of Arts and Sciences. Entering students
to the program (as freshman) are part of the Engineering Design Division. After the fundamental concepts are studied, students advance to more specialized
and robust Mechanical Engineering topics in our upper division courses. Exploration
of individual interests is encouraged through the use of technical and open electives.
The 4-year Mechanical Engineering curriculum for students starting in the Fall of 2008 to the Fall of 2011 is available here. The 4-year Mechanical Engineering curriculum for students starting in the Fall of 2012 and after is available here. The 4-year Mechanical Engineering curriculum for students starting in the Fall of 2014 and after is available here.
Pre-requisites of core courses in the curriculum are strictly enforced. A flow chart of pre-requisite dependencies for the 2008-2011 curriculum is available here. A flow chart of pre-requisite dependencies for the 2012 and after curriculum is available here.
