School of Management professor to receive leadership award
BINGHAMTON, NY – Francis Yammarino, distinguished professor of management and director of the Center for Leadership Studies at Binghamton University, was named the 2010 recipient of the Distinguished Leadership Scholar Award by the Academy of Management’s Leadership Network and The Leadership Quarterly. Yammarino received the honor in recognition of his “outstanding career contributions to the study of leadership.” The award session and reception will take place in August at the Academy of Management Conference in Montreal. Past recipients have included the late Bernard Bass, distinguished professor emeritus at Binghamton University.
Yammarino has been a member of Binghamton University’s School of Management faculty since 1985. He was named a SUNY Distinguished Professor of Management in 2003, and has served as Director of the Center for Leadership Studies at Binghamton since 2000. He has published more than a dozen books and over 150 journal articles and book chapters. In addition, Yammarino has received more than $3 million in research grants, and is a past recipient of the University’s Award for Excellence in Research.
