Binghamton University to host annual ballroom dance competition
BINGHAMTON, NY – Ballroom dancers from across the Northeast will swirl over the Binghamton University campus Saturday, Feb. 12, as part of Ballroom Dance Revolution 2011, an annual competitive event hosted by the Binghamton University Ballroom Dance Team.
Competitions will run throughout the day, starting at 7 a.m. in the University Union’s Mandela Room. Binghamton University students and alumni will compete against dancers from other universities in smooth, standard, Latin, and rhythm dance. Tickets are $3 with student ID or $5 without ID for daytime admission.
At 8 p.m., 2009 Eastern U.S. Professional 10-Dance Champions Nikolai Pilipenchuk and Natalia Skorikova will take the floor in a showcase performance. Additional performances will be given by Binghamton University’s most accomplished dancers and a cappella groups. Tickets for the showcase performance are $10 for the general public and $7 with student ID.
